Migration Report - 30th June 2006

The Grumeti River is now drying out and we are left with the individual pools that provide focus points for the game. The last green flushes of in the grass have gone now and the National Parks have already started their precautionary burning of wilderness areas. Where there is sufficient moisture left in the ground, the grass will grow back quickly, providing additional nutrients for the game.

The Wildebeest herds are still in good concentrations within areas of the western corridor, though they are definitely on the move and heading north, where many have already arrived. By mid July we would expect to see substantial herds in the northern areas of the parks.
