Migration Report - 21st September 2006

The northern area of the Serengeti is very green and the sporadic, heavy showers continue. This means that the general game viewing is very good at the moment, as many of the green areas also have short grass from the earlier burns. Food is plentiful, as is water and the animals are healthy and unstressed.

The Migration herds are still spread out across the northern zone and in large numbers but there are noticeably less crossings than one would normally expect at this time. Food and water are two of the main reasons why the herds cross and head north and if there is plenty of both, the urge is much less.
